Bank holiday blues

It was clear that this weekend wasn’t going to have the best weather.  Firstly it’s a bank holiday, Secondly we’re in England and thirdly the weather forecast did not look promising.  Usually any of these three is an indicator that there could be rain.  Any two of the three is an indicator that they’re really could be rain.  But to have all 3 line up on the same weekend is a certain sign of rain! We had grand plans for the weekend which included jobs at home and jobs on the allotment.  With quite a few plants still to...

Seed placement is…. everything?

Bit cooler then the last time we were down on the plot, but we were very happy to see that in the last few days our potatoes have sprouted! Seedling Success!

There has been much excitement from both the Allotmenteers and Mummy this weekend after a visit to Granny’s Greenhouse. Not just the odd few shoots which I found about a week ago, we now have full on actual seeding appearing. This is a massive relief and I can not lie, I think a small victory dance was performed by myself upon finding those green heads popping above the damp compost. So, what has been growing I hear you ask....

Digging – Archaeology style

What a transformation of a week, the sun has been shinning, its warm and things are finally starting to dry out down on the plot. This upward turn in the weather has been very well received by everyone and has meant full steam ahead in terms of getting the plot into shape ready for more planting action. So the name of the game has been digging, digging, weeding and a little more digging. I cant lie, this post is a little latter coming to you then I was expecting, but then again when you have digging as the main...
